Comprehensive Med-Legal Evaluation Services

One experienced team. Four evaluation types. All delivered with the quality, integrity, and expertise that have defined CSE for more than 26 years.

QME

Qualified Medical Evaluations

A Qualified Medical Evaluator is a physician certified by California's Division of Workers' Compensation to resolve medical disputes in a workers' compensation claim. When the parties disagree about the nature or extent of an injury, a QME panel is issued and the selected evaluator produces a report addressing causation, impairment, apportionment, and work restrictions.

Ordered through the DWC panel process by an injured worker, their attorney, or the claims administrator.

IME

Independent Medical Evaluations

An Independent Medical Evaluation provides an objective, third-party medical opinion outside the QME panel process. IMEs are used where a party needs an impartial assessment of diagnosis, treatment, causation, or disability without the procedural constraints of a state-issued panel.

Typically requested directly by attorneys, employers, insurance carriers, or third-party administrators.

AME

Agreed Medical Evaluations

An Agreed Medical Evaluator is a single physician jointly selected by the applicant and defense attorneys to resolve disputed medical issues. Because both sides agree on the evaluator in advance, an AME opinion carries substantial weight and frequently resolves a claim without further litigation.

Jointly selected by applicant and defense counsel in a represented case.

SIBTF

Subsequent Injuries Benefit Trust Fund

SIBTF evaluations address injured workers who had a pre-existing permanent disability before a subsequent industrial injury. These cases require a physician who can analyze multiple body systems and prior conditions, then document whether there is substantial medical evidence to support the combined disability. This is the specialty CSE was built on.

Requested by applicant attorneys pursuing a Subsequent Injuries Benefit Trust Fund claim.
